[Adora, for her part, is stunned. She cannot...believe that she just did that. That she and Catra kissed, and that it was actually kind of nice. She inhales sharply, touching her hands to her lips, blinking at her oldest friend.
Nervously, she sucks on her lower lip, unsure of what even to say.]
...I...
[No. She cuts off, exhaling slowly...]
...I liked that.
[she says, barely above a whisper, reverently wanting to keep the silence, but unable to keep that in.]
[ And that's it, the spell wears off. Hearing those words from Adora knock Catra out of... whatever she'd been doing. Immediately, an old, familiar feeling rises to embrace her: fury. Her eyebrows slant down hard in an accusatory glare, and she straightens up in defiance. ]
Of course you liked it.
You got what you wanted, after all.
[ Out of the corner of her eye, Catra sees some papparazzi with their cameras, but she's too exhausted by the myriad of feelings sloshing through her to even think about pursuing them.
She gives Adora a cold, cold smile as she nods in their direction. ]
Smile for the camera... princess.
[ Then she roughly picks up her skateboard and turns to leave. ]
[Adora, still reeling from the kiss just moments before, barely registers what Catra says, and certainly misses the paparazzi. She stands there, numb, for a moment until it becomes obvious Catra is leaving.
She starts to say something, opening her mouth...]
...don't go. I. We...that was...I don't know. But...
[she breaks off as a camera clicks audibly, breaking her train of thought.]
[ That does, in fact, get Catra to stop in her tracks. She's very still for a moment. Now would be the time for a snappy retort, but her mind is blanking. In the end, she turns her head slightly, not quite enough to peek over her shoulder, and answers with a deadly calm. ]
[Adora answers honestly, blunt and straightforward as ever. She doesn't really have an answer, because that was very, very intense. And seeing Catra bristle makes her feel worse, somehow, than if she'd said nothing and just left.]
...I...have no idea.
[And truthfully, she might never. She doesn't have a support structure here, and she doesn't know anyone to talk to about this. It's so completely foreign to her...and that means she's likely going to bury herself in a library researching.]
I'm sorry, I won't spoil your day any more if you don't want me around.
[ Honestly, she doesn't. Really. In her life, Catra's rarely felt this vulnerable, and she's felt vulnerable plenty of times. But now everything's laid bare, and she has no army to hide behind, no troops to rally against her nemesis. But then, perhaps the greatest enemy lies within.
She won't think about it. No, in fact, she'll whip around instead so she can return to something she knows how to do: yelling. ]
[Adora looks back over her shoulder, her eyes shimmering with not quite tears. They don't fall, she isn't going to cry, but she kind of wants to. Never, ever before has she felt like this. Happy and miserable at the same time, unsure of if she's pushed something that didn't seem to be that big of a deal too far. She got burned by this, and hard.]
...I did. I own up to that. I'm sorry.
[Again, she won't deny culpability.]
I wasn't expecting it to escalate, and I don't know if it's better that it did, or worse. Catra, I...can't think straight. I just kind of don't know how to feel.
[ Catra, too, is confused and hurt. She doesn't really know what just happened. Well, they kissed, obviously, but that also very obviously was more than just a physical action. Her chest feels too tight and she doesn't like it. ]
You said you were going to do it to get a rise out of me. Doesn't seem that complicated.
[ Oh, fuck. For a second, Catra actually gets out of her own head enough to notice something other than the storm roiling through her, and... Adora's sad .
[She swears, she will. It'll be at least a few days before they see one another. She has a lot to think about. she had not missed the softening of Catra's voice, and that made her 100% more likely to actually go along with it.]
[ She hesitates for a moment, unsure whether to say anything else... but what is there to say? Nothing good is going to come out of sticking around at this point.

[Her own chest feels rather tight as well, like it's under a lot of strain. She inhales sharply, unable to look directly at Catra.]
I don't know what it became, but it was more, and important. I'm sorry, that it started out for something stupid. You deserve better than that.

Yeah, well, I don't want anything else from you. So figure it out. Or don't. It won't really matter.

I just... I need some space.
